This can be the busiest season for beekeepers. Bees in a good season will be gathering honey and nectar quickly. It is important that the queen always has room to lay eggs. Beekeepers will have to monitor the hive and add extra boxes as needed.

Some decisions have to be made, such as whether to use a queen excluder, how much honey can be taken, and when it's taken.

The health of the hive must be determined before it is too late. Some hives are weak and you may have to kill the queen and replace her, rather than risk loosing the whole hive.
